Antique Armenian Artsakh rug with “Vordan Karmir” red. Inscription says “This rug belongs to Vartouhi (Gorgs Vartouhoun e) 1891”
The rug is in perfect, full pile condition with that special rare Armenian Cochineal reddish-purple color that was created from insects called “Vordan Karmir” only found in the Ararat Valley. Also known historically in Persia as “kirmiz”.
